About
Echoing that beloved old-Hollywood hybrid of mischief and innocence, this offbeat comedy sprawls from murder to love as a cast of uncommon characters runs from each other, into each other, and away with each other.

This modern madcap involves bungled hold-ups, a car chase starring a horse, teepee motels, and at its heart, a love story. Eddy, a small-time bad guy with terrible instincts, ends up in a Texas jail—and that’s just the beginning of his trouble. His fiancée Jeannie heads there to spring him, and Sydney, a Chicago gun for hire, is on his way too—with other intentions. When Jeannie crashes her car into local guy HR’s truck, the dominos of chance tumble. This screwball crime comedy fuses the best traditions of Western films and the modern chaos of the Coen Brothers. And much like Raising Arizona, the desperation fueling these characters is real and humane. These four souls start out in a caper and end up in a romance, much to their happy surprise. It goes to show that in this life, sometimes it’s more dangerous to give up than to keep going, even when you’ve already gone too far.

Writer and director George Anson, a Texas native, manages to combine Texas charm, comedy, love, and mischief together in his directorial debut, Spring Eddy. Anson, a natural storyteller, weaves a visual narrative that does justice to one of the main characters of the film, the Texas terrain. Shot on two RED One cameras, Spring Eddy captures the breathtaking landscape with wide framing, juxtaposed with fast paced action scenes and witty dialogue. Spring Eddy was filmed in Lockhart, Johnson City, Coupland, Bastrop, Wharton, Manor, Elgin, Dripping Springs, and Austin. Built up of a local cast and crew, Spring Eddy stars several up and coming actors from the Texas film community including Gabriel Luna (BERNIE), Blaise Miller (IT’S A DISASTER), and Verity Branco (THE FOODIE GIRLS).
Praise for Spring Eddy
“If you were to mash up No Country for Old Men with equal parts The Getaway and any romantic comedy, you'd have Spring Eddy.”
- Slackerwood
"A warm, fun, often nutty ensemble comedy that follows the lives of a handful of Texas eccentrics as they collide with one another in a variety of oddball, unpredictable ways. A promising debut for writer-director George Anson, I'm looking forward to his next film."
- Tim McCanlies (Writer/Director, Secondhand Lions)
“It's got all the markings of a complex crime dramedy, complete with a lot of notable Texas landmarks and some very funny performances.”
- Slackerwood
